From 16th July until 14th August, Coca-Cola Bottlers Ireland (CCBI) are giving away free non-alcoholic drinks to designated drivers. This campaign is supported by drinkaware.ie and follows on from the success of previous designated driver campaigns run by CCBI and MEAS, the organisation behind drinkaware.ie. The designated driver is entitled to three free soft drinks from the CCBI portfolio at participating licensed premises.
Fionnuala Sheehan, MEAS Chief Executive, encouraged people to avail of this offer saying,
“This designated driver promotion from Coca-Cola is a great way for people to become drinkaware drivers. Before heading out, whether it is to the pub, a restaurant or to a friend’s house, everyone should plan how to get home safely. A simple, practical way is to designate one person as the non-drinking driver. I hope this promotion will prompt people to start a designated driver system amongst their friends and neighbours.”
The offer is open to all designated drivers at participating licensed premises throughout the country – a designated driver is defined as anyone who is carrying two or more passengers and abstaining from alcohol consumption. The range of non-alcoholic beverages available includes Coca-Cola, diet Coke, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Fanta, Fruice juices as well as Deep RiverRock water in both still and sparkling options.
The campaign is being supported by a number of key organisations, including Mature Enjoyment of Alcohol in Society (MEAS), Vintners Federation of Ireland (VFI), Restaurant Association of Ireland (RAI), Licensed Vintners Association (LVA), Irish Hotels Federation (IHF), Beverage Council of Ireland (BCI), and the Irish Nightclub Industry Association (INIA).
