MEASevents '05 - Top Irish Acts for Colleges’ Music Tour.

MEAS is delighted to announce details of MEASevents ’05. This is the third successive year of this very successful college-based event which seeks to promote moderation in the consumption of alcohol and discourages excessive and high risk drinking.
MEASevents ’05 will run over seven weeks in the University College, Cork (UCC), Dublin City University (DCU) and the University of Limerick (UL) (4th Oct to 24th November). The initiative will feature a total of 21 events for students. To date some 11,000 students have attended MEASevents gigs since the initiative was launched in 2003.
The series, which promotes the responsible use of alcohol under the banner ‘Respect Alcohol, Respect Yourself’, will be launched on October 5th next with David Kitt playing live at UL. The tour will also feature top Irish comedy acts Jason Byrne, Ed Byrne, Karl Spain and Colin Murphy, as well as the highly acclaimed Rodrigo Y Gabriela and one of Ireland’s favourite singer/songwriter’s Damien Dempsey.
MEAS promotes its message in partnership with Government and with other bodies, as well as encouraging responsibility among producers, marketers, distributors and retailers of alcohol in Ireland towards the consumer.
MEASevents ’05 promises to be a big hit once again with students. Tickets are priced from €10 to €12 and are available from Students Unions at the colleges locally. Doors for each event open at 7.30pm.
